4 Tips to A Great Ad Copy
Apr 12th, 2007 by MAT.
To write a great copy for your advertisement or sales copy, here are 4 tips
1. Your prospect is the Priority, not you.
Everything you write must be focused on the prospect, not you, not your product. Whatever you write about your offer has to benefit your prospect’s life, making it better, easier or more comfortable.
2. List Benefits, Not Features
Never mind the features of your product or your offer, change or phrase the features into benefits that your prospects will be getting.
“Fast” is a feature but the benefit is time savings which translates to precious time for spending with family or for hobby/leisure.
“Waterproof” is a feature and the benefit is she can wear it while swimming.
Tell them precisely what they are gaining from each feature. Don’t let them guess or figure that out themselves. It is your duty as a marketer to make the purchase transaction fast and easy for your clients.
3. Write The Way You Talk
It is pretty boring to read a sales letter that puts you to sleep like a thick manual or textbook. Write the way you talk. It would be as if YOU are talking to them.
4. Be Clear and Specific
Avoid using long or ‘big’ words as some people may not understand you. Jargons and trade terminology should be avoided unless you are certain that your target audience can understand fully. Your sales copy should be broken into paragraphs so that they are in bite-size portions for easy reading. Not only does it make reading easier, it is less daunting to read.
