Sep 19th, 2007 by MAT
We can understand that your marketing budget is tight when you are a new start-up or running a small business. Whatever it is, just don’t stop marketing yourself or your products. Otherwise, you will not have any market presence or mind share. Here are 4 budget marketing methods that any business can use:
1. Yellow Pages
Contrary to popular belief, the Yellow Pages directories are still a good investment for advertising dollars. Listing your business in the Yellow Pages will inform clients of the location and services that you provide. All you need to create a distinction and differentiation by the words you used, the promises you make and the solutions you can offer to your clients.
2. Radio
Contact your radio stations to offer them your products for non-sponsored talk shows. You can have your products talked about for free. In fact, the radio stations might just offer you a special air-time package during off-peak period at a low price.
3. Television
You can apply the same technique to TV too. Approach those programmes on product trends to showcase your products. Getting yourself interviewed on air is worth many times of advertising dollars.
4. Newspapers
Even by-line advertisements in the classifieds section will yield results. Again, it is how you word your advertisement/listing. Also, time your advertisements, meaning, decide if you should advertise on pre-weekend, weekend or beginning of a work week.
5. Brochures
You may also use brochures in the company’s presentation package comprising company profile, brochure and business card.
6. Business Cards
If you don’t have everything else, make sure you maximise your business card well. Besides the contact particulars, you should tell people what you are doing and how your expertise can solve their problems and make them enjoy a better life. Please, don’t go cheap with design and product. That’s a kill all.
7. Email, Ezines and Newsletters
Circulating Ezines, newsletters, emails are also effective in getting the word out about your business. With tools like NVU, Frontpage, Dreamweaver and even Powerpoint, you can easily create your own circulars with professional looking text and graphics.
8. Direct Mail
If you already have a client list, send out printed or e-circulars to your clients to give them updates of your products and company. Otherwise, contact list sellers. Tell them who your target audience and geographical location to avoid unnecessary expenditure.
9. Networks and Organizations
Joining networks and organizations such as your local or regional Chamber of Commerce and trade associations can effectively boost your market presence and contribute to a surge in business volume.
Keep marketing. Don’t be cowed by those who spend more than you. Its not how loud you shout, but what you shout that will win you clients.
