In this commercial, you will see younger brother literally dragged his old brother out of his bed because Santa visited the night before. Not only Santa ate the carefully prepared supper of cookies, he chose Sprite over 7-Up to go with the munchies. If immortal folks like Santa prefer Sprite, who are we - the mortals - to argue with? That’s the message the advertiser is sending to the public.

Honestly, I have no preference between Sprite and 7-Up. However, it’s true that 7-Up eludes a dated feel. It doesn’t made me feel young, hip and happening. It got nothing to do with the green bottle or the red dot but it got everything to do with the branding.
