Christmas Ad5 - Move over Pepsi, Give Me A Coke TVC Anytime
Nov 6th, 2007 by MAT.
I have been watching lots of Christmas commercials lately. It started with Pampers’ “Snowman wears a Diaper” commercial. As I watched, a smile curved up and the nice, warm, fuzzy feeling well up inside me. It was moving and touching to watch a toddler put on a diaper for a melting Snowman so lovingly. The innocence of a kid moved me. As I sat before my laptop, I started to wonder what other nice Christmas commercials were out there. I watched lots of Coca Cola commercials, and the 1984 version of “I like to buy the world a coke” top my list.
Tonight, I suddenly thought of checking out Coke’s arch rival, Pepsi. I wanted to know if they have an original song like “I like to buy the world a coke” or the iconic “Holidays are coming” truck. Instead I found this …
I cannot imagine what Pepsi was thinking about. Christmas is all about love, giving and hope. And here I got a crazy toy went around with a saw, destroying Christmas tree, Christmas mood and Christmas spirit? What’s a destructive and dangerous looking robotic clown got to do with “no sugar”. Call me mushy but I much prefer a nice, warm, fuzzy feeling for Christmas commercial. Give me a coke commercial any time.
No wonder one of the comments at YouTube is “remove it”.
